What We Collect

DealBeacon collects only what's needed to hunt deals on your behalf:

  • Phone number — encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Used only to send you deal alerts and receive your requests.
  • Hunt requests — the products you ask us to search for, including keywords and max price. Stored to run background searches.
  • Behavioral signals — your responses to alerts (e.g., "Bought it!") used to improve future recommendations.

What We Don't Collect

  • ✓No email address required
  • ✓No location data
  • ✓No payment information
  • ✓No advertising identifiers
  • ✓Raw SMS content is not persisted — it's summarized into structured data and discarded

Product Search Data

Product searches, pricing data, and deal information are not considered personally identifiable information and are not encrypted. This data is used to power deal detection and price history tracking.

Affiliate Links

DealBeacon earns revenue through affiliate commissions. When we send you a deal, the link includes an affiliate tag (e.g., ?tag=dealbeacon-20). Clicking and purchasing through these links supports the service at no extra cost to you. The service is free because of this model.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the DealBeacon service — running searches, sending alerts, and improving recommendations. We never sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.

Third-Party Services

  • Twilio — delivers SMS messages. Your phone number is shared with Twilio only to route messages.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes your requests to understand intent and generate search queries. Data is sent securely and not retained by Anthropic beyond the request.
  • Amazon, Best Buy, Google Shopping — searched on your behalf. No personal data is shared with these services.

Data Security

Phone numbers are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with unique initialization vectors per record, with a separate HMAC-SHA256 hash for lookups. Every access to decrypted personal data is audit-logged.

Opting Out

Text STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Your hunt requests and associated data will be deactivated immediately. To request full data deletion, contact privacy@ipalmedia.com.
